Our Fifth Anniversary

               The Other Side . . .Douglasville Politics

As a subscriber of the Sentinel for many years, I believe that much of what goes on politically in Douglasville is not reported. It is our mission to bring this news to you; to print The Other Side. I am sure that many of you have had the experience of writing a great letter to the editor, sending it off to the Sentinel and never seeing it printed.

The second reason this web-site has been created is, I believe that a  two newspaper city, such as Douglasville, has a moral responsibility to give all sides of an issue. I think the Sentinel has failed in this. With the help of our viewers this web-site will make the maximum effort to print unbiased, un-inflammatory, facts and opinions about Douglas County politics.

The Editor . . .

Raymond Page and his wife have been living in Douglasville for the past thirteen years. Many of you remember his knocking on your door in 1999 when he ran for Councilman of Ward 5. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he has been in and out of politics for the past 40 years. Raymond enjoys political discussion and hearing new points of view. He has personal experience in the fields of mental health and retardation, housing for the elderly, small business, labor unions, security, health issues for the elderly, international issues and the current hot topics. He is looking forward to your input.

A Prayer of Thanksgiving
Max Coots

Let us give thanks.

For generous friends.with hearts as big as hubbards and smiles as bright as their blossoms;

For feisty friends as tart as apples:

For continuous friends, who, like scallions and cucumbers, keep reminding us we had them:

For crotchety friends, as sour as rhubarb and as indestructible;

For handsome friends, who are as gorgeous as eggplants and as elegant as a row of corn-and the others-as plain as potatoes, and so good for you.

For funny friends, who are as silly as brussel sprouts and as amusing as Jerusalem artichokes, and serious friends as complex as cauliflowers and as intricate as onions;

For friends as unpretentious as cabbages, as subtle as summer squash, as persistent as parsley, as delightful as dill, as endless as zucchini, and who-like parsnips-can be counted on to see you through the long winter;

For old friends nodding like sunflowers in the evening-time, and young friends coming on as fast as radishes;

For loving friends, who wind around like tendrils, and hold us despite our blights, wilts, and weathering;

And finally, for those friends now gone, like gardens past, that have been harvested-but who fed us in their times that we might have life thereafter;

For all these we give thanks.

LOVE
